Prayer Central

We hope this thrills you! Christ Center is a "Prayer Center!"

Why? Because Jesus specifically declares His passionate heart for this: "My Father's house shall be called a house of prayer!" (Matthew 21:13a). We take this seriously. We believe every local church is to be a House of Prayer. That's why we have developed comprehensive prayer ministries as an essential feature of our church partnership. We welcome your partnership in making Christ Center a model of how the local church can serve the heart of Jesus by uncommon, passionate, mature, effective prayer! Take a look.

Special Note: By the way, if you are seeking prayer right now, click here to go to how you can tell us about it. The following material describes how you can become involved in praying for others effectively.

Prayer Times:

This list changes, so check back regularly for other opportunities.
• Sunday: Elders' Intercession. 8:30 in the Prayer Center. Open to those desiring prayer for healing.
• Monday: Intercession for Christ Center. 6:00 a.m. in the Library
• Tuesday: City Intercessors, with Dick DeCook, 7:00 a.m. in the Prayer Center. Open to all intercessors.

• Wednesday: Strategic Men's Prayer. 6:00 to 6:30 a.m. in Prayer Center. We pray for great kingdom advancement.
• Thursday: Elders meet each week to seek in prayer God's direction for Christ Center.

Prayer Teams:

We train those who feel the leading of the Lord to be involved in immediate care for hurting people. Sunday morning we have a designated Prayer-Care Team as a follow-on to the Worship Service. Much of the training material is offered to view and or print out under "Prayer Resources" below.

Prayer "Tithe:"

This is a concept that validates our goal to become a praying church. We encourage every class, every meeting, every practice -- a prayer tithe. This has a profound effect on us as God's kingdom agents, and results in spiritual vitality in ministry.

Prayer Resources:

Whether in our "secret places" or in a group gatherings, we all need clear instructions on how to pray effectively. Here at Christ Center, we have a number of dedicated prayer rooms and a expanding calendar of prayer gatherings you are welcome to explore. These gatherings are served by TEN TRAINING TOOLS to mentor and mature each of us as intercessors. Click on any of the topics below to open and or print out a pdf copy.

1."Etiquette for Prayer Care in the Healing Place." The training material is subtitles to help advance the holy conversation between the Lover and the loved. It comes from the many "learnings" we have gained in our prayer gatherings. This is a good place to start.

2. "Hearing the Spirit - Five Questions." This is a simple, but essential, guide to our personal conversation with God. Building on Revelation 3:20 and 22, enjoy an enhanced "table-talk with Jesus.

3. "Intercessors and Pastors." Sometimes, the valuable partnership between intercessors and pastors has turned difficult. This article clarifies the rolls and advocates for a mature relationship between both.

4. "Prayer Care Team Training Brief." We often have our trained intercessors offer immediate care to hurting people as a follow-on to our worship service. Here are guidelines that help us serve the Lord's heart.

 5. "Listening Skills." In Lamentations 3:55-58 we are blessed to understand the wonderful listening skills of our God. How essential it is for us in Prayer-Care ministry to be good listeners -- listening at the same time to the hurting heart before us and the holy heart of God within us. This is a skill you can develop.

 6. "Listening Team Guidelines." As a companion to "Listening Skills" above, this training piece helps our team define the twelve values we consider essential to effectiveness in serving with humility and skill.

 7. "Maturity - Prophecy and Tongues." These blessed manifestations of the Spirit have at times been misunderstood and mishandled. This is a biblical corrective to allow handling of these great gifts.

 8. "Offering a Prophetic Word in a Gathering." This is a biblical word-study of the terms in 1 Corinthians 4:3.

 9. "Prayer-Walking - A Short Course." We were privileged to have Steve Hawthorne come an share these principles with us. This is a great refresher on how to "pray on your feet." Take a look.

10. "Why Test Prophetic Words?" Here you will find a biblical study and practical set of guidelines to ensure that the realm of the prophetic is fully under the direction of the Lord as to its content and impact.
